DATE: Victorian, c.1860
A stunning Victorian cluster ring set with four old cut diamonds arranged at compass points around a central emerald. The ornate split shoulders envelope two of the four diamonds - finished in gorgeous black scrolling enamel, which perfectly complements the yellow gold construction. The diamonds are set in silver over foiled closed-back settings to beautifully enhance their brilliance and colour (or rather lack-thereof). It's wonderfully constructed, dating from the mid-Victorian period circa 1860.
